Recently, a chief watercraft manufacturer was faced with a major dilemma when their original supplier lost key personnel and would no longer produce a highly engineered throttle cable assembly for one of this customer's best selling product lines. The client - looking to hire a new contractor who could quickly turn around precision product with little to no assistance - turned to D.S. Brown. With our expertise for producing safety-critical transportation infrastructure products, we were able to produce 1,500 units of these finished parts as specified with absolutely no assistance from the previous supplier.

The throttle cable consisted of a twin conduit rubber over-mold jacket assembly. Constructed from black, neoprene material, we employed a combination of our thin wall extrusion pre-form, compression molding, and high-accuracy trimming operations to successfully manufacture these parts. Meeting a (+/-) 0.010 of an inch precision tolerance, we built the cable to measure precisely 57 inches in length, with a .54 of an inch material thickness. The product also weighed exactly 173 grams. After assembly was completed, we then packaged the cables - forty per carton - and shipped them to our client's facility.

Using our precision assembly services, D.S. Brown was able to manufacture 1,500 complex throttle cables for this major marine industry client in an under 8 week turnaround period, rescuing this watercraft manufacturer after their original supplier refused to perform.
